Bike Seat Clamp

0 review(s)
The seatpost clamp is the pivotal piece that keeps the seatpost from moving up and down while riding. Generally, a seatpost clamp has either a bolt or a quick release lever that operates the clamp at the top of the seat tube and grabs onto or clamps down onto the seatpost. A good clamp should have the seat stay in a fixed position for countless rides. This particular seatpost clamp is a quick release style with a diameter of 31.8cm.

Seatpost Clamp

The seatpost clamp is the pivotal piece that keeps the seatpost from moving up and down while riding. Generally, a seatpost clamp has either a bolt or a quick release lever that operates the clamp at the top of the seat tube and grabs onto or clamps down onto the seatpost. A good clamp should have the seat stay in a fixed position for countless rides. This particular seatpost clamp is a quick release style with a diameter of 31.8cm.

There are many different seatpost clamp sizes. The seatpost clamp size is usually determined by the diameter of the seatpost tube used by the frame manufacturer. Here at Tower, we use our own custom-size seatpost clamp for our Tower e-bikes and it works on other bikes as well. We use the quick release style. Our seatpost clamp diameter is 31.8cm and our seatpost diameter is 27.2cm. The frame is notched where the seatpost clamp goes on to allow the clamp to clamp onto the post well. This seatpost clamp serves as the primary function of adjusting the height of the seat and fixing it into place.

It's very important to have a seatpost clamp that clamps well. If the seat clamp doesn't clamp down tight, then the seatpost can tend to move. If you're traveling fast on an e-bike and you hit a bump, all that force and momentum is going to push down on the seat tube pretty hard, and it can cause the seat height to change abruptly. If the seat clamp isn't clamped well, it can allow the seat to twist left and right.

This seatpost clamp will work on any sized seat below the diameter of 31.8cms. Changing your bike seat won't really affect the clamp much, but the bigger seat you get, the more leverage you're going to have to twist that seat on the seatpost.
