Do I need to wear a helmet?

Generally in the USA it is required that minors under the age of 18 wear a helmet at all times when riding a bicycle, this goes for electric bicycles too. Riders over the age of 18 are not obliged to wear protective headgear but we recommend doing so in order to take all precautions to ensure your safety.

Electric bikes can travel at greater speeds than traditional bicycles, making the potential injuries as a result of an accident that bit more serious. As laws differ from state to state and city to city, it is your responsibility to check up on your local laws and regulations to ensure that you are adhering to the law. Your safety is your own responsibility, even if there is no law requiring you to wear a helmet we suggest that you do regardless.

It is crucial that you check your helmet manufacturers guidelines and specifications for using the helmet. Some helmets are designed for specific types of use and it is important that you get the right one and use it correctly. Certain helmets are designed to be lightweight and can sometimes offer little protection. You should not trade off quality on something like a helmet. We suggest that you think about the type of riding you will be doing and invest in one that is good quality and will offer sufficient protection for your style of riding.
